History

This LA County town is drenched in history, from the early days of the Native Americans to the WWII era and the days of the tourism boom, this town is one that has seen it all. It started out as one of the Mexican land grants that was eventually annexed into California in 1848. Once the annexation happened, the town flourished, becoming a resort town from 1886-1941. The start of the resort town came when the town was a main stay on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroads. Like many towns in that time, the railroads gave them more visitors and made their mark on the map. After the Great Depression, the town continued to flourish with various craftsman moving into town and building some of the architecture that remains today. Now, the artistic heritage of the town remains through the various schools and theaters that are located throughout the town.

Parks and Recreation

Pasadena is known as a town that flourishes in nature and outdoor recreation for everyone. The parks and recreation department ensures that everyone has the opportunity to stay in shape and have fun outdoors. The department handles all of the various parks throughout the town as well as programs for youth, youth with disabilities and seniors. They also offer dog obedience classes so even the four legged members of your family can enjoy the outdoors.

Events and Attractions

There is more to this city than anyone can get through in a lifetime. From the theaters and arts to the yearly Rose Bowl Championship College football game and the parade that goes alone with it. This event brings people from near and far every year and those who cannot make it in person can watch all of the festivities on national television.
